.44 Cal. 8" barrel. SN: 18146. (Mfg. ca 1861) Blued and casehardened metal finish faded to brown patina overall with brass triggerguard and iron backstrap mounting one piece walnut grips. Single action six shot percussion revolver with brass front blade and hammer rear notch sights. Barrel address reads in a single line -ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA- with further markings including COLTS/PATENT to left frame and cylinder, and Ormsby's Naval Engagement roll engraved scene and date to cylinder. Revolver features the early four-screw frame with stock mounting cuts to recoil shield and backstrap. Serial numbers match on backstrap, triggerguard, frame, barrel, cylinder, wedge, and arbor pin. Wedge screw is replaced. Grips have been sanded leaving no inspector cartouches visible. Martial inspection stamps include T and A initials on cylinder, A to left barrel, arbor pin, and triggerguard, and T to backstrap and base of grips. {ANTIQUE}

Very Good. Bore is Dark with some pitting and strong rifling throughout. Metal finish is primarily a deep brown patina with a mottled brown on casehardened parts, and some light pitting at muzzle, forcing cone, hammer face, and rear cylinder. Naval engagement scene is faint, with some markings in metal likely weakened to polishing at some point. Traces of blue on barrel below loading lever, with some spots of case color remaining on interior frame below cylinder. Triggerguard shows a mottled tarnish forming. Grips lightly sanded with handling wear, dents, and nicks on the edges. Action with good timing.
