Excavated rectangular CSA Virginia-style belt buckle. Sand-cast brass, 3 cast brass hooks to reverse. 2 13/16 x 1 15/16 in. Kerksis 302; Mullinax 084-091.
Featuring a yellowish brass typical of this style, called "Virginia-style" thanks to early finds in the state. Great quantities, however, have been found near Murfreesboro and Tullahoma, Tennessee. Typically thinner than the Atlanta Arsenal style with more-centered letters and large, rounded periods.
