A group of four (4) Confederate currency notes, including: 

 

1. The Central Bank of Alabama $5 note. Montgomery, Alabama, 18--. Series D, No. -----. A vignette showcasing an overseer (sitting at center), with a blacksmith & an enslaved African American to his left at the end of a dock, a riverboat with the moniker  "MONTGOMERY" to the viewer's right. 

 

2. State of Georgia Bank of Commerce $1 note. Savannah, Georgia, 18--. Series C, No. -----. A vignette depicting an enslaved African American male picking cotton to the left. At center, a clipper can be seen sailing across a body of water. 

 

3. State of Mississippi Cotton Pledged $5 note. Jackson, Mississippi, May 1862. No. [4445].  Vignettes showcasing both a Native American and a sailing ship can be seen to the left and right. 

 

4. Central Bank of Alabama $10 note. Montgomery, Alabama, 1858. No. [658]. Vignettes depicting a panoramic view of the city of Montgomery stretching across the top third of the note, showcased in both the foreground and the background, enslaved African-Americans can be seen. There is also a portrait of President George Washington to the lower right. 

 

These bills served as legal currency in their respective states in the years leading up to the American Civil War.
