Message of the President [submitting the report of the commissioners to confer with the President of the United States with a view to the Restoration of peace]. [Richmond, Virginia]: N.p., dated 6 February 1865. 8vo, 4 pages. Parrish & Willingham 940.

An uncommon pamphlet signed in type by Confederate President Jefferson Davis with updates on the Hampton Roads Conference. As pressure from both sides to seek a peace settlement in 1864, President Lincoln and Secretary of State William H. Seward met with the Confederate delegation led by Vice President Alexander H. Stephens. They discussed possible terms of surrender, and the question of slavery - whether it would be allowed to persist after the war, and whether there would be compensation. While compromises were proposed, the only concrete agreement reached was regarding prisoner of war exchanges.
