.36 caliber. 7.5" octagonal barrel. SN: 156236 (mfg. ca. 1863). Heavily oxidized metal, silver plated brass backstrap and triggerguard, smooth varnished walnut one piece grip. Single action percussion revolver with unfluted 6-chambered cylinder, hammer nose notch rear sight and brass cone front sight. Missing the loading lever and lever catch. Barrel with the typical Colt one-line "NEW YORK U.S. AMERICA" address of the period, with the two line patent mark on the lower front edge of the left side of the frame and a "36 CAL" marking on the left of the triggerguard web. All visible serial numbers match, including the wedge. {ANTIQUE}
Fair to Good. Bore heavily oxidized and pitted with visible rifling. Metal heavily oxidized with scattered patches of pitting and surface roughness and a thick brown patina. Markings remain at least partially legible, if somewhat weak, cylinder scene remains mostly visible. Mechanically functional action. Missing the loading lever and lever catch. Grip is somewhat ill-fitting with the grip strap proud of the wood. Wood with some wear, but in better condition than the balance of the gun, retaining much of the varnish, with some wear and loss, scattered dings and dents and some moderate edge wear along the base of the grip.
