A rare early Confederate note issued by the Bank of the State of South Carolina shortly after secession. The vignette at center depicts two white military officers gesturing towards an enslaved Black man kneeling at a table. Also includes portraits of South Carolina Revolutionary War Generals Nathaniel Greene and William Moultrie.
