Engraved silver identification badge. Engraved to obverse "Geo. Lassell. Co. D. Scotts. 900 N.Y.S.V." Approx. 15/16 x 1 3/8 in.
George Lassell enlisted at the end of 1863 at Canton, New York, as a private, mustering into Company D of the 11th New York Cavalry, also known as "Scott's 900." In 1864, the regiment was ordered to the Department of the Gulf and engaged in expeditions from Baton Rouge. Lassell tragically died of disease on 14 September 1864.
