564. Outside View of the Volcano. Albumen stereoview. Rochester, New York: C.W. Woodward, circa 880s. Publisher's orange mount, imprint and series title "California & Utah Scenery" printed to mount recto.
A nice outdoor view of the cone of a volcano, probably in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Charles Warren Woodward (1836-1894) was a New York State native who operated a successful photographic publishing studio for many decades in Rochester, printing from the negatives of many photographers, including Charles R. Webster. California views are rare to encounter from the publisher.
