.38 Long Colt. 3.875" barrel. SN: 264684. (Mfg. ca 1906) Blued refinish overall with {Rampant Colt} logo checkered hard rubber grips and shortened barrel. Double action six-chamber fluted cylinder hand ejector revolver mounting topstrap rear notch sight without front sight. Markings include circled {Rampant Colt} to left frame, COLT D.A. 38 on left barrel, and worn down two-line address and patent mark to barrel that has been cut through, indicating the barrel was substantially cut down after production. Some adhesive residue to forward barrel, likely formerly securing a now detached front sight. Frame, latch, and crane struck with assembly number "1895" with cylinder number not matching. Interior grip panels scratched with the name RELF. The ejector rod head appears to be a lead replacement, possibly made using an air gun pellet. {C&R}

Fair. Bore is Frosty with some flecked oxidation and crisp rifling throughout. Metal refinish is thin with rounded edges overall from excessive polishing, edgewear, scratches, and brown mottling forming. Some light pitting to triggerguard and lower frame. Cylinder primarily gray to brown patina with oxidized spots. Grips show handling wear with loss of fine details to logos and the checkering worn flat in places. Grip screw head is chipped, providing very little material to engage with screwdriver. The replacement lead ejector rod head is warped with black painted finish flaking. Needs mechanical attention. Action fails to engage the cylinder stop, resulting in substantial wiggle on lockup.
