.577/450. 33.22" barrel. SN: NSN. Blued metal finish with walnut straight wrist stock, full length forend retained by two barrel bands, sling loops to upper band and triggerguard, and bayonet lug to right of upper band. Single shot tilting-block rifle. Sights consist of an adjustable ladder rear notch and Barleycorn front, the former adjustable from 100 to 1300 yards. Right frame struck {Crown / V.R / ENFIELD / 1873 / Crown / Broad Arrow / I.} Right butt shows a further stamp reading RM / ENFIELD enclosing {Crown / Broad Arrows / WD} followed by I. Balance of parts with further WD and {Broad Arrow} markings. Toe of stock with empty sling loop port. Buttplate is checkered iron. Item features a bronze breechblock axis pin, with the simplified trigger indicating it to be the Second Pattern of Mark I. Lever is too short to permit the end to socket into the retainer, suggesting it is replaced. Steel cleaning rod is 32.75" in length with the correct slotted round head and threaded tip. {ANTIQUE}
Very Good. Bore is Frosty to Bright with crisp rifling and some patina. Metal finish retains some thinning blue on the barrel and receiver flanks fading to brown overall, some surface roughness along the edges of the stock and on rear sight. Butt is a deep gray to brown. Stock shows handling wear, dents, and scratches. Some wood fill on forend with spots of retouched finish. Action functions when operated by hand, but firing pin has not been inspected.
