Black shagreen 6 7/8 in. pocket case of drawing instruments, ca. 18th century. Lined with yellow paper and period newspaper.

The complete set of included brass and steel drafting tools is as follows:

1. Dotting wheel attachment for a set of dividers with removable point.

2. Ink compass.

3. Drawing pen with blunted points.

4. 4 3/8 in. dividers. The end of one of the points has snapped off. The points are not removable.

5. Drawing pen attachment for a set of dividers with removable point.

6. 3 1/2 in. brass and steel dividers. Both points exhibit appropriate wear. The points are not removable.

There are two unfilled slots, including a ruler slot in the center which has warped beyond functionality. Unfilled slots are commonly observed in drafting sets of the era and do not necessarily indicate the absence of a tool, as the cases were often purchased independently and were filled by a draftsman as needed.
