Single action, single shot, twist-off smooth bore box lock action flint pistol with sliding safety. Left of frame marked "TOW", right of frame marked "LONDON". Bottom of chamber with London Gun Maker's commercial proof marks.

London gunmaker John Tow was the successor to the firm of Griffin & Tow. Tow worked at 10 New Bond Street circa 1783-1793. He served as an arms contractor to the East India Company from 1783 until his death in 1795. {ANTIQUE}

Good. Bore heavily oxidized and with pitting. Metal heavily oxidized as well with a mottled brown and dark gray patina showing patches of surface roughness and some surface rust. Markings mostly clear. Mechanically functional action, sliding safety broken. Top jaw screw and possibly the top jaw are replaced. Grip with wear, showing marks and mars.
