Full plate ambrotype view of two figures before Niagara Falls. Full leatherette case.
Drawing attention as early as 1604 during Samuel de Champlain's exploration, the spectacular falls have perpetually inspired artists and photographers. Tourism expanded in the 19th century and the first known photograph of the falls was taken by Hugh Lee Pattinson.
The view here is taken from a high vantage point at Prospect Point, showing the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. A couple visiting the Falls is posed on a bench, the lady resting her hat on her full skirts.
