Sixth plate ambrotype. Full leatherette case.
Charming ambrotype of a well-dressed young girl and her younger sibling, who sits in a fancy stroller. Sweetly nestled between the baby and the carriage seat is a large white rabbit with one ear upright and the other flopped under the little one's cherubic arm. Images featuring small furry pets like rabbits are exceedingly scarce, and this particular rabbit remained still for the exposure - quite a feat. This charming scene of American domestic life in the late 1850s is enhanced with the addition of pops of red tinting to the children's cheeks and the baby's ruffled sleeves.
