Description
Quality lot of three (3) Civil War-era images, all in full thermoplastic cases, two of which depict Union soldiers. These include:

1. A quarter-plate tintype of a standing Yankee soldier in uniform posed in front of a painted camp scene backdrop. This backdrop strongly resembles one used by a photographer named John Jones at the Union's Rendezvous of Distribution in Alexandria, Virginia. Thousands of troops passed through this camp while returning to their regiment after recovering from an injury or captivity. A flag placed on the artist's table is a nice patriotic touch.

2. A sixth-plate tintype of a seated Union soldier, photographed from the waist up. This image is sharp and clear. The oval brass mat bears a very desirable patriotic military motif.

3. A sixteenth-plate tintype of a young woman wearing a flower-print dress. An enamel "Ladies of the GAR" badge is pinned to the pillow opposite the photograph. This organization is still in operation today, the longest-running such organization in America. They were originally organized after the Civil War as auxiliary support for GAR activity.
